ISO 42001 is the first internationally recognised standard for Artificial Intelligence Management.

The standard defines the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an AI management system. The aim of the standard is to ensure that the development or use of Artificial Intelligence systems incorporates the following principles:

 

• Promote the development and use of AI systems that are reliable, transparent and accountable.T

• Emphasise ethical principles and values when implementing AI systems, namely the right to privacy.

• Helping organisations to identify and mitigate risks related to the implementation of AI systems, ensuring that appropriate mitigation measures have been taken into account.

• Encouraging organisations to prioritise human well-being, safety and user experience at all stages of AI system development.

• Assist organisations in complying with laws, regulations, data protection requirements or obligations to stakeholders
